The Finishing Touches; Mafia Wars Strategy; Part 8

So, if you've been following the guide up to this point, you should be a master boss. Congratulations! At this point, it is time to find some direction with your character. It depends what you want to do:

If you want to be able to fight and beat any player:

If your goal is to beat other players, once you master underboss and start to work on boss, you should start switching over points into attack or defense. If you want to be able to beat any player you wish, but don't care about losing fights to people who attack you, you can dump all your points into attack. Additionally, use your massive energy pool to collect AR-15s, Humvees, and Federal Agents to have an advantage over "balanced" opponents. Use your energy pack to stock up on blackmail photos for more federal agents. These are the best 3 attacking items you can have. If you want to be able to survive attacks too, you should split your points between attack and defense, and work on collecting the defense items like the Private Jet and Falsified Documents. Bonus Weapons (which you can buy) are pretty much the best defense weapon, so buy up to 501, one for each person in your mafia.

If you want to fight often:

If your goal is to be able to take out people on the hitlist, you will want to follow the above strategy but put a few extra points into stamina. Health is kind of a waste of stat points, because you can heal at the doctor every few minutes. If you are taking too much damage during fights, get better weapons and fill out your mafia!

If you want to be have the highest level character

If you want to be the highest level mobster around, just keep doing efficient jobs and load all your stat points into energy. Energy packs can be used to collect good defensive items, like falsified documents.

If you want to collect a lot of property and money

Simply having a very large energy pool and doing jobs is the best way to get money. After 200 or so casinoes/offices/hotels, these investments take MONTHS to pay themselves off. At that point, you will rely on jobs to bring in the most money. You might think that you will want to put points into defense to protect your property from robbers, but simply having a full mafia and keeping the property protected will ward off most attackers. Additionally, getting robbed once in awhile is not a big deal. You will make a lot of extra money with your large energy pool and will be able to repair and protect buildings without putting a dent in your bank account.

If you simply wanted to master all the jobs

You're done! You can go back to doing something more productive now.

  1. What job has the best Energy to EXP ratio?

    ReplyDelete
  2. If you have a private island and a -11% wheelman and +11% mastermind, the "Bank Heist" job in the associate tree has the best ratio at 2.125 exp per energy at 8 energy cost for 17 exp (not counting top mafia wheelman and mastermind procs).

If you do not have a private island, the "Settle a Beef... Permanently" (boss tier) has the best exp at 71 exp for 35 energy - 2.03 xp/energy.

Even if you have a private island, as soon as you can I'd recommend switching over to "Settle a Beef... Permanently" as it gives a lot more money and it's ratio is similar to the Bank Heist job.

  3. I'm on level 120, and already mastered Consig level already. However, my energy is only 650, so i'm running short on energy even if I only do settle the "beef". What should I do now to level fast?

    ReplyDelete
  4. Have you been putting all your points in energy? If not, you won't be able to speed level.

If you like to attack people I'd start putting points in attack/defense/stamina and slowly level the rest of the way up.

  5. I started off putting a lot in att/def, but now i've been dumping all points in energy. Do you know the exact number of camera/photos/illegal transaction records/total energies to master underboss / boss? I heard that you could actually complete all 3 levels of boss; no title but you'll still get the 2x regen, then complete underboss

  6. It's possible, haven't tried it out. However, I think if you have a lot of points in energy (and aren't a maniac), the 5% exp bonus is just as good if not better than the boss bonus, since it lets you level more easily off a single energy bar. Getting master underboss is much easier then master boss, so I think your best bet is to try to master the tiers in order.

It takes a long time to master boss as well.. need almost 400 blackmail photos, so if you've put a lot of points in att/def, you're in for a long haul... which is why I think it's easier to first dump all points in energy and diversify your stats after you master all the jobs.

  7. I need help. I finished all the jobs on all three levels and now am a Master Boss...but the locked levels haven't unlocked. What do I need to do?

  8. Wait for new content to be released :p. There isn't anything out yet past master boss, but supposedly some new stuff is in the works.

  9. help. what do i do about cuba?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Starting to post new info about Cuba, but I'm not going to rewrite the guide to include Cuba just yet - it could change completely by the time beta is done.

  11. Wanting to fight more often at earlier levels has a drawback - having to wait much more, or at least having to fight this much every time to get xp. I had a not-so-pure energy character, with 80 stamina. It ended up in a lot of clicking for every level :)

  12. Yep, plus you can only attack so many times before you have to stop and heal. Until they make fighting a bit more rewarding, I'm sticking to an energy-based character.

  13. Your guide is fantastic. Finished master boss quickly. Put all my stat points into energy as you said so my attack is very weak obviously.

What do you think about Using efficient jobs as filler and trying to loot the "Raid the Arms Depot" for TNT, the most powerful weapon. Using energy packs as well to "rob" these valuable loot items could be beneficial, right? What if everyone in my mafia had TNT, could I keep my attack stat low and still win fights?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Better weapons will let you win more fights, but if you want to go after the big dogs you will have to hop off the energy crutch at some point and some stat points in attack!

I've been at this for 14 days now, and I'm at level 495. Great guide!

To comment on devoting energy to attack etc... when I was around level 300, I stockpiled about 200 stat points for fun, and blew about 150 of them amonst attack, defense, and a smidgeon on health.

NOW I'm struggling to stay ahead of the increasing xp / level.

Feedback is encouraged here; I'd propose that once you master everything, stay focused on energy, but use the godfather points to start slowly increasing attack/defense. This way you can gain gradual power, but still enjoy levelling at will.
Once I "catch up" again through godfather points, I'll stick to this regimen.

    ReplyDelete
  16. It depends on your purpose. If you want to just be the highest level possible, put points in attack. If you want to be the strongest person in fights, you'll need to start putting stat points in attack and defense.

  17. i have one question regarding my character, fearless. i mastered all new york and Cuba jobs already. and i put every point in energy as you said. now, i cannot get reward point from jobs anymore, and it seems harder to level up as i got 5 reward status point, but i need 12 exp to level up, and the best job only give 2.125 exp/energy. i'm at level 400 now. how can i become a top most experience mobster when in the future, i have to wait for the energy to refill? i'm top mafia mastermind and wheelman as well. and not everytime i can get chance of spending no energy for job. thanks for your advice.

    ReplyDelete
  18. What level do you have to be to be an 11% wheelman? I have been a 6% wheelman for forever...Level 276 now.

    ReplyDelete
  19. to the first question - the people at the top of the top mafia list (when it was working) either 1) cheated their way to the top or 2) bought godfather points. When mafia wars was first getting off the ground a lot of the coding was pretty shaky (still is lol) so people got to level 3000+. Alternatively, I'd imagine if you spent a few hundred dollars on godfather points with this strategy, you could level to 1000+ without resting.

2nd question - for some reason, the game doesn't auto update your wheelman stats. try demoting and repromoting and I bet you'll be higher than 6%. Also, seems around level 350-375 you get 11%

  20. Can I ask what the private island is you refer to and how you get access to this? I'm a level 185 maniac at the moment. Thanks

  21. When I run 'Steal Bank Records' or 'Obtain Photos' jobs I often get nothing. It seems like I run them 3 times to get one item. Is this just the way MW is?

  22. This guide is amazing. I previously had a level 70 fearless who had double his level in both attack and defense, obviously this left me waiting ages for energy regens, so I thought I'd try this out.
After 6 days I have all jobs mastered at level 3 in both cuba nad NY, I've completed all collections except lotto in cuba and NY and I've bought all the businesses and have fully upgraded them. I'm now just repeatedly doing the 'Raid the arms depot' job for TNTs, so far I've got over 250 and I havent had to stop for energy yet at all, I havent even had to put points on to make sure that I do actually level, its great. I thoroughly reccommend this build :)

  23. wats the private island and how can i get it

    ReplyDelete
  24. Excellent guide. Very similar to the thoughts I was having after starting two accounts over level 150. I am now level 660, with 501 TNT, Guerilla Squads, and Armored State Cars. However, it's too bad that this build cannot hold up by the later levels. I can no longer speed level as the job ratios have reached their maximum potential. Therefore, I recommend you add a new addition to the guide for those reaching level 600 and above or those who have put in stats on def/attk and still want to level reasonably quickly.

For those who have all the weapons you need and mastered all the job tiers, there is a new way to spend the what appears to be now useless energy pack. You can devote all of a level's energy into collecting tokens and cards for the Enforcer Tier "Run Illegal Poker Game", which gives the highest job ratio in the entire game: 2.41x. Then spend your energy pack again by collecting tokens and cards. You will still end up with more than enough energy to do the Enforcer tier boss fight, which peaks at giving a 923 experience boost to the next level (there is a peak, which I noticed at level ~500!). That way, you can still "sort of" speed level if you are careful with your exp-to-job ratio.

Just my two cents. Hope it helps.

  25. Yes, I want to get a private island too. Where is it?

    ReplyDelete
  26. wauww I do not now what to think about this levelling up thing?! So if you do well you are potentially a boss and level 200+ within 2 weeks with an energy of 600. but with an attack/defence value of under 10? and thus get your ass beaten by every normal player with good overall stats.??
    or am i missing something

    ReplyDelete
  27. Need a post that tells you how to do well with a small, tiny mafia. How can you protect yourself without a giant mafia?

    ReplyDelete
  28. private island - if you master the underboss jobs.

    btw, i have a question:

when i attack - the order of weapons used is based only on the attack powers, say avispa (54,24) TNT (42,20), aguila hv (40,16) until AA-12 (27,15). obviously, i could not use my gaff hooks (20,30) and cane knifes (18,28) since the attack powers of these 2 are less than the attack powers of the weapons used above.

the obvious question: how do you include these two weapons when attacking? i thought of giving the other attack weapons until the system could accomodate the gaffs and cane knifes BUT like the AA-12 - it could not be given as gifts.

    TIA!

  29. If you are going to make a strategy guide about putting points into attack or defense, research what attack and defense actually do first

    find a combat calculator

  30. Very nice guide.. i got a question... am starting up on boss level now. I've mastered all previous levels. Mastering underboss gives you additional 5%. But how come when i started playing boss level, it doesnt give me the the additional 5%.please help.. thanks.

  31. I am at level 151 and have over 800 points energy. but it is not enough to level up anymore, exept i use the energy pack which can only be used once a day :(

could anybody give me some advice to level quickly? what about at high levels? f.e. after level 300, 400 or 600 etc.

I already have the both 11% from mastermind and wheelman

  32. am on level 199..but a maniac..got bout 141 points..

dont know where 2 invest the points ..need 2 level up quick..any advice appreciated..got a 11% mastermind bonus.

  33. A question : Is it increasing the chance of free jobs to be a wheelman for more than one person? Or it is same regardless of number

  34. Just some random thoughts ...
Level 205 ... Boss level will be finished today.

Are you guys spending GF points on Attribute points?14 God Father get you 4 energy. I have found that to really help keeping the level ratios in line with the job ratios.

Yes the energy guys suck on attack until they can farm better weapons. I found with buying attribute points with my GF points, I do not have to fight any at all, so as long as I bank money quickly I get attacked very rarely. Being under the radar helps.

Staying ahead of the level ratios ... I find all level ups must go into energy. Once that stops, you just changed the nature of the character ... good or bad, start building for "balling with the bid boys".

Thanks for this Guide, it works as stated.

  35. I finish all NY, and Cuba..now working on moscow, lvl 460+, energy is sky high at 2500+ but the att/def skill sucks, do you guys think all bonus skill points should be dedicated to defense? i want to improve it...i only have 243.

    thanks,
    mafi

  36. so the 5% for the private island...i don't see any effect. if i do a job that gives 88 exp pts...i get 88 exp pts. where does, how does, the 5% show up? am i just confused :-)

    ReplyDelete
  37. @jerry - the job that gives 88 exp points after gaining mastering Underboss & gaining the private island would have gained you just 84 exp points if you had not mastered Underboss. The exp points get recalculated across the board after you get the 5% increase.

  42. MAFIA IS MANIAC CHARACTER.

    ReplyDelete
  43. After reading this guide, I started a new account a month back got maniac character, and today exactly in 30 days I have mastered all New York cuba and Moscow job tires. I deviated somewhat from this guide and tried to do it my own way. I am at level 472 now, 2560 energy 401 attack 54 defence. Anyway, I try to collect best equipment but find it extremely difficult to collect Moscow items. In cuba, I get Comuflage body armor once every 3-4 jobs, TNT every 5 attempts (approx) Gorilla Squad every 10 attempts but Executive overcoat, Konstantin, Zoloto, Klyk-9, Shturmovik every 15-20 attempts. Can you tell me exact loot rate and some method to increase Moscow loot rate. I must admit, Executive overcoat had much better loot rate untill I mastered level 1. After level 1, in level 2 and 3 it reduced drastically.
