Mafia Wars Job Rackets; Strategy Guide

As mentioned before in the rackets overview post, there are 4 types of rackets: cash, attack, defense, and job rackets. Here is an outline detailing the job rackets, their progressions, and the rewards:

There are currently three total rackets in the "Job Rackets" category. Shaking down a racket results in 2 boosts (3 if the racket is mastered) that decrease the energy cost of jobs. There is only one progression path currently.

Taxi Stand (master this racket to unlock Trucking Company)

Cost: 5 Influence
Time until completion: 4 hours
Reward: Free Ride x2 (x3 if racket is mastered): -3 job energy cost
1 Experience point
5 Influence
+7% Racket Mastery (only shows 2% in picture because it was the last 2%)

You get an extra boost (3 instead of 2) if the tier is mastered.

Trucking Company (master it to unlock Shipping Company)

Cost: 16 Influence
Time to completion: 4 hours
Reward: 2x Truck Driver (3x if it is mastered): -6 job energy cost
16 Influence
+ 1 Experience Point
4% Racket Mastery


Shipping Company (currently the final Job racket, unlocked by mastering Truck Company and Taxi Stand)

Cost: 38 Influence
Time to completion: 4 hours
Reward: Fake Documents Political Favor x2 (+60 Robbing Defense Skill)
+38 Influence
+1 Experience

Conclusion

Job rackets have a lot of potential.. but the influence cost is very high for the good boosts! The Taxi Stand only offers -3 energy cost on jobs, which is hardly worth it, but the -9 energy cost on the Shipping Company could be worth something.

Well, turns out that this got nerfed. Now the shipping company produces a COMPLETELY USELESS boost of +robbing defense skill.

  1. I noticed today when using fake documents on the "Bank Heist" job I was actually getting a -1 energy cost which was increasing my energy by one every time I did the job.

  3. I only have 20 Racket-Slots, 5 each in Little Italy, Hell's Kitchen, Bensonhurst, and Upper East Side.

    That's still 60 boosts every 4 hours.

  8. I accessed rackets by starting a new account. They will be available for everyone else at an unknown (but sometime soon) time.

    As far as attack vs defense stats, the actual formula is hidden. They matter, but gear also matters a lot. After the combat change, attack matters for attack only and defense matters for defense only. If you want to win all of your fights you will need high attack&defense stat points, 501 mafia, and the best gear.

  9. To reduce 30s on your stamina regeneration timer, complete all the 3 job mastery levels to receive the chainsaw bayonet after mastering the 3rd level of all the jobs in the hitman tier. Chainsaw bayonet will give you 30s reduction on your stamina regeneration timer permanently.

  10. I believe there's a cap on the Shipping Company, unfortunately...

    Today I did a bunch of them (lost count on 12) and after some time its loot changed to political favor x2 (+60 robbing skill) which is useless now that robbing is disabled. =/

  11. Any reason why my shipping company is producing some crap rob defense boost? Seriously robbing isnt even operational and you can bypass getting robbed by flying to cuba before logging out anyways. Anyone else having the issue with the shipping company giving the rob defense boost?

  14. Yeah that does totally suck, why would they give us a boost for something that we can not use or be used against.. so i guess im stuck loading up my rackets with trucking companies.

  15. Well its apparent zynga doesnt know what there doing taking those away is meaningless. What i mean to say is the trucking company is a better deal on energy cost. once mastered doing it one time gets you a total of 18 energy reduction.(3 of them) Now even if you had time to master the shipping company you get 27 energy reduction. Sounds better 27 is more than 18 right? Considering you can do the trucking 2 times for the same energy cost as the shipping company so in essence youd be getting 36 total energy reduction compared to 27. I was mad about the boost change for shipping company at first but after the math i guess ill live :)

  16. I've been playing around with the racket system on my secondary account and I'm convinced the system has potential.

    First thing I would do is refund the skill points anyone added to this system and double up the stamina. Seriously, apart from secondary accounts, I don't see anyone piling a lot of skill points into this once they realize how worthless it is in its present condition.

    Then let the influence build upon itself. The more you successfully use it, the higher it goes... to the point where someone could be running all the highest tier rackets on all the open slots.

    And I'd open the rackets up to robbery by other players. Keep a grace period to collect your money or boosts, but after that, the money or boosts can be stolen by other crews.

    But as it stands, it's a curiosity.

  17. The boosts received from the Shipping Company (third level of the job rackets) have been replaced by "Political Favors" which gives +60 robbing defense skills.

    In addition, experience payout ratio from the Bank Heist job has been changed.

  19. with 15 inf points, it is possible, but takes a while to get all the free rides ( 3xp off) in a 4 hour period you get 106 ish energy for master boss. 20 rackets.... 3 free rides each....3 exp off.... so 180 free energy which out gains your energy regen. If all else fails you can dump it in the 3 exp jobs and get a free 180 exp. Helps out big time when you get those darn levels that you dont get any mastermind or wheel man procs

  20. After playing around with it some more, I've decided... I want Rackets on my primary account. Especially if they refund me the double-upped points I spent on stamina.

    To prevent abuse they should make all the Energy Reduction Boosts from the rackets non-transferable (thus ending the ER Boost farming operations). Then bring back the Faked Documents, so this skill has the potential to really pay-off for the player.

    And mock the little ER boosts all you like, but these things are rolling out in bulk, unlike the two you get from vaulting a collection. A -6 Trucker will raise the XP ratio of the Track Loader job to 2.17. If you've just collected, you've got 20 of those hitting all at once. Even the -3 Free Ride could transform a not-quite leveling job into a leveler.

    And if you can manage your rackets while at work (I was doing so with my iPhone), then you're coming back to two or three sets of them.

    As a former serial leveler, who is tired of leveling 15-25 times a day and wants to settle into a nice, comfortable five or six levels... with the ability to tackle lower-yield jobs (like the Track Loader) and manage to level; this rackets have a lot of potential even in their current nerfed form.

  21. Is anyone else seeing "faster than normal" racket completion? I swear (and I've tested this for days now) that my four hour rackets pay out in three and a half hours. You can (and I do) set your watch by it.

  22. It's definitely faster. I use another app first that has an accurate 4 hr timer. My MW 4-hour racket ALWAYS is done with 15-20 mins left on the first app.

  23. if you do the 1st job in cuba, it normonally pays 17 exp for 10 energy with a 11% wheelman. so with the truckdriver that drops it down to 17exp for 10eng which is a ratio of 4.25 I think this is the best ratio in the game? Is there a level with a higher exp/eng level using the truck driver?

  25. rackets are gone. I repeat rackets are gone. Every one who complained got their way. I just started a new accn with facebook today, and they stated me out with properties, not rackets. I was just getting to like them too. So just so everyone knows, new accn are back to properties.

  34. I have the racket system and it is AWESOME!!! I produce about 360 Truck Drivers A DAY (about 2160 energy points) and you can use the truck drivers to lvl up really quickly (do jobs under energy rate of 6).

  36. i did write them about some things and apparently when they started the rackets system and prevented those accounts from being on the robbing system (and no properties access).... an un-holy hoard of the "old guard" started moaning and crying so they brought the properties back, telling me how awesome properties really were because of the money you can make once you get it going.

    And I'm left thinking how useless $ are outside NY anyway. You can skip to NY to heal and to buy boosts... thats it. My rackets account cannot rob. It cannot be robbed either - yet the collections and boosts purchasing and daily-gifting are stuffed with boosts that only apply to robbing activities.

  38. When you start a new account, it will randomly give you Properties or Rackets.

    Also, INFLUENCE is now gone.

    Rackets are cash only and cost money to start. Lame!
