Mafia Wars Moscow Vory or Mafiya Part 2; Strategy Guide

Here is the differences between Vory and Mafiya for the latest edition of Mafia Wars Moscow. For information on episodes 1 & 2, check the episode 1 & 2 Mafiya vs Vory link.

Episode 3 (Brigadir)

In episode 3, the only differences between Vory and Mafiya occurs during chapter 2. I once again included a mod so you could see XP:energy ratios. This time, I also made sure both characters had 15% bagmen. Here are the screen shots of the job tiers:

Unique Loot:

From the "Steal the Bank President's Car Keys" job (Mafiya Only):

Conclusion

Neither tier (once again) is particularly better. The Taiga Combat Shotgun is just completely terrible though, while the Volk Luxury Sedan at least is decent. Other than that there is no distinguishing features between the two sides.

I honestly thought the tiers would diversify a bit more and have more than a job difference as more parts of the expansion came out. I guess feedback (read: mass panic over which side to pick) must have scared the developers into making it little real difference. Oh well, always episodes 5-6 to hope for! Episode 4 (Avoritet)

Here are the differences for Episode 4 between Vory and Mafiya.

Unique Loot:

From Mafiya only "Arrange The Sale Of Weapons-Grade Explosives" job:

The Opel Armored Helicopter is Mafiya Only

From the Vory only "Rob a Troop Convoy":

The Shturmovik is Vory Only


Conclusion

Ding ding ding, we have a winner! For episode 4 it is clear to me that Vory far and away is better than Mafiya. The Shturmovik is an 11 attack upgrade over the Guerrilla Squad, while the Orel Armored Helicopter is only a 2 defense upgrade over the Private Jet or Armored State car.

Additionally, the job that drops the new helicopter in the Mafiya pathway requires an Untraceable Cell Phone, while there is no consumable cost for the Vory pathway.

There is one catch though - it is possible in Episode 5 or 6 that the Shturmovik will be upgraded while the Orel Armored Helicopter will not - it is a risk you will have to take (unless episodes 5 and 6 come out before you finalize episode 4). I'm not afraid to make the risk - it is only a 2 defense upgrade; I'd rather not go through all the trouble of collecting a couple thousand untraceable cell phones to get a measly 1-2% defense upgrade, especially since if these helicopters are not replaced in episodes 5 and 6, they certainly will be replaced in next expansion. Vory all the way for episode 4!

    honestly, it's about time. power leveling was too easy.

  3. Well they also encrypted the links in base64 which means that most of the bookmarklets are DOA at the moment.

    AttackX is a fav.... cant sit at a computer to manually find 200+ different targets

  6. Can anyone calculate how many rubles you need for episode 3? I sold off most of the items to stock up on rubles like the guide mentioned. I have 115 million. Is that enough?

  7. unfortunately no @ the 115 million comment. it might be enough to get you through the first time. After that, you'll need to get more. At least you'll be able to (or close to be able to) unlock episode 4 where there is the high paying job

  8. My advice to everyone is to just max out what businesses are available to you in Russia, then work on jobs in Cuba + NY if you haven't finished those yet. I'm on the third mastery for the last tier I need to finish in NY, I just collect Rubles from the businesses while I'm doing it! However, I think I'm more patient than most people!

  10. Episode 3 Mastery reward is an Ex-KGB agent (armor type) 48 atk 30 def.

    Vory reward in Episode 4 is a Shturmovik (armor type) 45 atk 28 def.

  12. The difference between Mafiya & Vory becomes more evident in Moscow: Episode 4 (Avtoritet). Orel Armored Helicopter (Armor - 24 Attack 40 Defense) can be looted only by Mafiya while Shturmovik (Armor - 45 Attack 28 Defense) can be looted only by Vory. Now, pick your sides carefully on the Level 3 Mastery of this episode! You could pick the other side for Level 1 & 2 Mastery to loot at least a few of the other items.

  16. Is it safe to sell of the taksi's and stuff, after episode 2? Money is a pain in Moscow, and the bribery tax, are sky high, just for owning the "must have" eqipment....

  17. Ugh why must the exp/energy ratios be so bad? I find it a pain to level at anything less than 2 and hoped for the ratios to improve as Moscow carried on (like cuba and ny), but it's just hovered near 1.8 the whole time.

  18. we definitely need a guide to essential equipment, as most of the "high paying" jobs lose most of the rubles in bribes. and we can't know what we need until we finish! a catch-22 until someone can give us the scoop about when to hold the items and when to sell them.

  21. Too much money to spend and not able to earn enough on moscow jobs, most is lost and businesses make a lousy something like 10 million a day. If we spend all our godfather points for cash, what will happen when the last 2 episodes come out???

    @ yogesh - you can only win 65,000 in Cuba and Moscow, but in New York you can win/lose 100,000.

  25. I just added up how much i've spent in Moscow.

    i have mastered episodes 1 & 2 and have 3 & 4 bought up to the "finale" chapter for each (just for level 1 mastery).

    The number is staggering:

    R$579,900,000.

    no kidding

    for level 1 mastery for chapters 3 & 4.

    save those rubles.

  26. So asd I read I see Masteryu reward ep 3 ex kgb bodygauard and epo 4 the vest. am I to assume the award is the same for Vory or Mafiya on each of these episipdes like it was in ep 1&2? can someone confirm this for me?

  29. Easy to get and loot attack items,very hard to get defense weapons to loot-So I will be choosing-Mafiya for the Opel Armored Helicopter......Every1 has Shturmoviks to trade on all mafia trading sites,but no opel helicopters...1 helicopter is equal to 3 Shturmoviks on Mafia trades......

  31. So just confirming something here since I haven't done both sides of mastery for ep. 3&4; do both sides get the Schuka speedboat and razoritel grenade launcher in chapter 3?

I spent one whole energy pack and level up of energy points struggling to get the Schuka Speedboat, and i still can't get a single one!! 1st time i experience this great difficult with job loots, i don't get it.. why is it sooo difficult?? It's not particularly that great, this item!!! Has anyone else have such difficulty getting it??

    There is the Armored Briefcase just at the beginning of Episode 3. It's the best defensive Armor you can get in the whole game. It would be the best to get 501 items of them. So I do the job again and again,till I got the money for going on to Episode 4. There you get the Shturmovik, which is the best attack weapon in the whole game. If you got all the briefcases you can do this job again and again till you have 501 Items. I did this too in Cuba to get all Gaff Hooks, Armored State Cars, Canonazos and so on.

    Hope you understand what I mean. I'm from germany and my english lessons in school are 25 years ago :)

  35. You get the Armored Briefcase in Episode 3 - Chapter 1 - BEFORE you have to decide Vory or Mafiya. So it is the perfect job to power up your defense and earn a little money. All you have to do is "be patient"! :)

  36. Anyone else have had problems withe the bosses in moscow? I keep calling for help and people helps, but no "responded" appears! It never finishes... I've tried every day for a couple of weeks now :S

  38. Exist there a chance to change ur Vory/Mafiya Side after Mastering the Tier?

    and btw... Armored Briefcase isnt best Defensiv Armor in whole game... There is an Executive Overcoat in Tier 6 Chapter 1 to loot... 22 Attack 45 Defense

    Execute A Bank Guard During Your Escape: 9x Shturmovaya Vintovka, 9x Bronezhilet, 3x Riot Helmet

    Use The Guard's Keys To Access the Bank Armory: 9x Shturmovaya Vintovka, 12x Bronezhilet, 6x Riot Helmet

    you do get the title and award, its just done silently, check your loot and profile, both will be there, it just doenst tell you you got it like in NY because the final jobs are assist only so its mastered wthout any input from you

  43. Vory vs Mafyia, episode 4. The text says:
    "Orel Armored Helicopter is only a 2 defense upgrade over the Private Jet or Armored State car".
    Armored state car is actually better with 42 defense vs. 40 of the helicopte. Mafiya is actually worthless because we can always go back to Cuba to get more loot
