Chop Shop - The Final Word

So, I've been messing around with the Chop Shop over the last few days, and here are the highlights:

Upgrades

The Chop Shop is upgradeable up to level 10. There are 5 items you will need for each upgrade: Shipping Containers, Cement Blocks, Power Tools, Car Lift, and Acetylene Torches. There are several ways to get these upgrade pieces:

- As free gifts. Every Mafia Wars player can send 2 types of these upgrade pieces as free gifts.

- From jobs and fighting. These upgrade pieces are a somewhat rare drop from doing jobs and fighting in any city.

- By asking for help. Every 24 hours, you can post a request for "help" collecting an item. Simply go into the Chop Shop page and click "Upgrade" and you will see an "Ask for Help" button below some of the item types. Pick the one you have the lowest one and offer up a request. Note: This 24 hour timer seems to reset if you upgrade your chop shop, so it is possible to call for help on items back to back.

- By spending godfather points. You can trade 1 godfather point for each item. It would require quite a few Godfather points to fully upgrade your chop shop, as you will a few hundred of these pieces to finish up.

The cost for upgrading = (current level + 4) car parts of each type. For example:

If you are level 5, you will need 9 (5 + 4) of each type of ingredient to upgrade your chop shop to level 6.

By upgrading your Chop Shop, your shop will produce more car parts per hour. You will also gain access to more vehicle types, which are listed in the Chop Shop Cars post.

Parts

Your chop shop will produce "Car Parts" on its own every 24 hours. This is a generic item and you will need quite a few of these items to make cars. You can also find these generic car parts as a common drop from fighting and doing jobs in any city. In addition to these items, some cars require other specialty car parts, such as Thai Car Parts, Bulletproof Glass, and Solar Panels.

Solar panels and Bulletproof Glass drop randomly from doing jobs and fighting in what seems like any city (though I found mine in New York). They have a very low drop rate, but if you play a lot, you will find a lot of these.

City Car Parts (Thai Car Parts, Cuban Car Parts, etc) drop from their prospective cities randomly while doing jobs and fighting. For example, you will only find Cuban Car Parts when fighting and doing jobs in Cuba.

Vehicles

Now, the Chop Shop no longer produces 1 vehicle randomly every 24 hours. You have to build vehicles using the car parts listed above. I listed all the vehicles in a previous post linked above that you can choose from. Unlock more vehicles by upgrading your chop shop.

Note that you can only produce 1 vehicle per 24 hours, even if you have the car parts. As a result, you want to pick the best possible cars to build.

Right now, it seems the best two cars are the Rebel 2 and the Solar Flare. The Rebel 2, with 40 attack and 45 defense, has pretty good stats and gives you +5 stamina for purchasing. That would be +5 max stamina - so you could go from 15/15 to 20/20 by purchasing this vehicle.

The Solar Flare stats aren't as high as the Rebel 2 but it gives out +5 energy for purchasing. Once again, that is max energy. Each time you buy another one of these cars you can increase your stats by +5. The only catch is that you can only do it once every 24 hours.

Since you can increase your stats through this function, you can make big improvements in your character as it is like getting an extra level up each day that you build one of these cars. By doing this for a month, you could end up with an extra max 150 stamina or energy points. This will in turn result in more jobs done and more fights participated in, which would precipitate further levels and even more stat points. This is definitely a worthwhile use of your Mafia Wars time, don't ignore it if you want to stay ahead of the curve!

Edit: The Chop Shop is now upgradeable to level 12:

Additionally, there are 2 new high-end cars that come along with levels 11 and 12:

The Mugati Sport (35 attack, 51 defense, and +3 to your total max defense skill) costs 135 car parts and 1 "High Tech Car Part", which is a brand new piece. The Hunter 'Spy' XS (52 attack, 29 defense, and +3 to your total max attack skill) costs 155 car parts and 2 high tech car parts.

It's a bit of a toss-up on which car to pick now! On one hand, the two new cars, at only providing +3 stats (compared to the +5 energy or stamina cars), may seem a bit weaker. However, with 51 defense and 52 attack on each of these cars respectively, these pieces are also very strong. Since robbing small properties weighs heavily on your most powerful items, if you end up robbing a lot, you may want to beef up your stats by picking some of these new cars up.

  1. Sorry for a OT question but when I buy faction store items in Bangkok they don't come up at my loot? Am I the only one

  2. Has your assumption been verified that you can actually get +5 stamina or +5 energy each day? Some people thought you could get that boost once only.
Also, you might want to add that the cars are giftable and that they can drop with mystery bags. You definitely do NOT get the +5 bonus when gifted or through mystery bags!

  3. I can confirm that you can get +5 stamina each day, I have two Rebel 2 so far.

  4. @1st anon, since you bought it wouldn't it show up somewhere other than loot, like when you click on inventory or the faction store? I haven't actually bought any faction store items yet but since it wasn't loot I don't see why it would show up in loot.

    ReplyDelete
  5. @ first anon, It doesn't show in the end of weapons, armor or vehicles. It shows the item somewhere in the beginning after your other purchased weapons, armor or vehicle.

  6. faction store items work like all other purchased items -- they never show up in loot list, they just show up in the store, listed under the price where it says "owned: #". you can see that they are being used though because they show up in the "all items" list after a fight.

  7. and about 5 minutes ago i traded for a rebel 2 thinking it would give me the extra stamina even without purchase -- i wish i had read this thread first. it turns out the deal was okay for just the vehicle stats, so i didn't really lose value, but i thought i was getting a killer deal for the +5 stamina too =).

  8. OT but what has happened to everyones profile picture? 99% have been replaced with the mw M symbol. Anyone else experiencing this? I have 3 accounts doing this. Cheers MAX

  9. Same Here anon right above me... I had both my accounts with the same problem

  10. So you're simply dropping the the two new best offensive and defensive vehicles respectively The Trio Napoli 47 attack, 23 defense and The Red Angel - 16 attack, 49 defense? i know it would take 1002 days to get them all, but they are still tradable, aren't they?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Yep, you also get them from mystery bags so those 1002 days will be less.

Or u can trade 25 red angels for a lotto set.
So if u have 20 lotto sets you already have 500:-p

I personally go for the +5 energy/ +5 stamina cars.

  12. Just to confim (having done hundreds of jobs since this became live) the solar panels and bullet proof glass do only drop in New York, I guess it is because you get the specific nationality parts in all the other countries.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Bonners, thank you so much for that info. I was wondering why I never ran into these parts, and it's because I've been doing everything in bangkok. Time to do some muggings! (My stamina I want to continue to apply to bangkok for money).

As far as the best offensive/defensive vehicles, I think they are fine to trade for, but if you have the right parts, I think the purchases that give +stats are way better. What you paying for is not the vehicle, but the stat; the vehicle is a nice bonus you can either keep or trade away. And since you can only use the shop once a day, I'd always choose buying +5 stats to buying a vehicle.

  14. I am MOGULE and I want to know where can I find chop shop?

    ReplyDelete
  15. I played on 5 accounts yesterday in all cities and got only ONE bulletproof glass. No solar flare. How many thousands of energy pts does it take to get them??

    ReplyDelete
  16. For facebook users there's a group called 'Chop Shop parts' or something similar. (I can't access FB from work to check) Join the group and post your request links as a comment in there and you'll the maximum 5 parts per day you are allowed to receive fairly quickly.

Since the donors do not have to be in your mafia it's a quick and easy way to help build a chop shop if your mafia don't visit your wall to click the link to donate to you.

    ReplyDelete
  17. To Bonners... NOT TRUE for fighting .. I have looted several solar panels and bulletproof glasses from fighting in all cities

    ReplyDelete
  18. Do the common/rare random car pools improve as you level your chop shop?

    ReplyDelete
  19. @last anon: The shop chop no longer produces random cars. The chop shop produces parts and you choose which car to buy with parts. As you level your chop shop, it produces more parts and unlocks more vehicles to buy. But no part about it is random anymore (unless you count random job/fighting drops of parts).

  20. To Big Mike,

sorry, I think my info was incomplete, I've only been doing jobs, not fighting with this character, so didnt have info on fighting. Apologies, I should have made that clear.

  24. how do u get chop shop, and properties to buy?? i keep finding loot drops, but cant access chop shop??????

    ReplyDelete
  25. Since the Ace in the Sleeve can only be gained by playing Zynga's Poker till level 6, does anyone here have any advice so that we can level up quickly there and get the weapon ASAP? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  26. @Anon, Do the round 1 tournament, 5xp for joining and 9 xp for winning and 3xp for playing a hand

    ReplyDelete
  27. i played that tournament till level 7 and still not lose yet even already got my ace in the sleeve.. now they are putting my email for the lucky draw list to win an xbox wee!

  28. Pisang, I'm level 18 on Zynga Poker and never got the weapon you're talking about. Is there something I need to do to get it?

  29. Any word on when Racket players will get the Chop Shop?

    ReplyDelete
  30. I would appreciate knowing how many car parts are produced by your shop at each level.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I relatively new to the game...

I have a question: how do you use the chop shop parts gained in fights and looting, to build your chop shop,I ask this because I have a number of parts from jobs and loots in my lot inventory, and can't seem to use them to build my chop shop, nor can I find a button or something of the sort, to use the parts for the aforementioned puropose...

To a guy new in this business, any help is welcome

    ReplyDelete
  32. You have to go to New York, click properties and start building the chop shop (there is a button there it says "build". Once it is built (but you have 1 thru 7 lvls before you can start building the Red Angel. So the first this to do is build your chop shop, then you can start building your cars..

    ReplyDelete
  33. Anyone know how long its going to take Zynga to transfer all accounts over to that new system? What I mean is that I don't have a properties section to click on...its still Inventory. Kinda sucks that I can't start making the shop due to the fact that I have no ability to; while at the same time everyone else is getting ahead.

    ReplyDelete
  34. correction...I don't have a properties section to click on...its still 'rackets'

    ReplyDelete
  35. it's so aggravating that I'm going to 1. lose the rackets that I love, and 2. not lose them until WAY AFTER everyone else has already built their chop shops and thus won't be interested in clicking on my links. I've been helping people build chop shops left and right, but by the time I get to build one, very few will be motivated to help.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I have rackets but some how managed to build a chop shop. The trouble I have now is that I can't build cars. help!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I have alot of parts for the chop shop in my inventory, how can i get them to the chop shop

    ReplyDelete
  38. Ya i just checked chop shop this morning and it says now it's a unicorn castle. It functions exactly like a chop shop except everything is unicorn themed. The actual building is now a unicorn castle, the car parts are not magic potions and other miscellaneous unicorn-related items, and the vehicles are all now different types of unicorns. Hoping to see a post on this later.

    ReplyDelete
  39. You have collected all the magical items you need to upgrade your Unicorn Castle to level 3. Your Unicorn Castle will now be able to form a Bloodicorn and will produce 13 Magic Potion every few hours. To celebrate, the Fairy Godmother is offering special free beasts to your friends.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I'm thinking that this unicorn castle business has to be an april fools joke of some kind. its lame.

  41. the parts your looking for like bullet proof glass and solar and high tech ARE ONLY FOUND IN NEW-YORK JOBS I BEEN AT THIS FOR 2 WEEKS AND I KNOW WHERE THEY ARE SO IF YOU TELL ME THEY ARE EVERYWHERE YOU FULL OF SHIT WHY NOT TELL THE TRUTH

    ReplyDelete
  42. FYI, I don't rob much, but when you fight someone, rob their chop shop. That way, it only costs you 10 points as opposed to the robbing feature alone. Just go to fight list & hit rob, then do chop shop. If someone gives you 5 parts, rob them again.

    ReplyDelete
  43. what are all the possible "random common" vehicles? anyone?

    ReplyDelete
  44. add me to learn my trick how to make two vehicles each day... will tell the trick for trade of daily chance collection.

  45. Doing the NY job robbed the electronic store I get a buch of solar panles but so far no bulletproof glass, where can i get it???

    ReplyDelete
  46. i think they fixed the 2 cars every 24 hours glitch... can someone confirm this? built a car before collecting and i didn't get the 2nd build.

    ReplyDelete
  47. They fixed the glitch for the 2 cars every 24-hours. But I have a question. Once your chop shop is fully upgraded, do you still need to have the cement blocks, torches, etc.?

    ReplyDelete
  48. why would you need blocks, torches, etc? If they are used to upgrade and there are no more upgrades, so there's no use for them. I believe they'll create more levels in future, but it's just my opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  49. so where in NY (or other cities) can you find bulletproof glass?
