Challenge Mission London Coming Soon

Another rendition of the challenge missions are coming soon! This time Mafia Wars will be taking us to London:

I'm guessing we will see this London in about 2 weeks or so. Since Bangkok episodes 6 and 7 just came out, it is unlikely we will see London anytime soon.

The real reason though that this is likely to not come out before another week or two has passed is that we are likely to see a holiday event for Memorial Day (a US holiday on May 31st) which is likely to run for close to a week.

I am guessing we will see Challenge Mission: London sometime after the Memorial Day event.

---

With that said, I forgot to post about the new Chop Shop / Weapons Depot feature that lets you build things faster.

You can reduce the timer on your Chop Shop or Weapons Depot by 2 hours for spending 1 reward point. In other words, you can spend 12 reward points and build a second car right after building your first one.

Before you groan about another paid feature, this is actually pretty good. As some readers on the previous post noted, spending 12 reward points to get +5 attack points and a 51 attack weapon is better than spending 14 reward points (12 if its on sale) for +4 skill points (provided you have plenty of the requirements).

  1. Is anybody else having problems getting the Royal Thai Marine? I spent close to 3000 energy and I did not get one. I'm hoping it was just some bad luck or something.

  2. Bad luck for you sorry.

    IN reply to post.

Or you could spend 10 points and refill your energy and level up and get 5 skill points?

    ReplyDelete
  3. Well that is assuming you have that much energy. My fighting acct takes 3 or 4 energy bars to level up.

  4. Spending RP on an energy refill actually sets you back from the leveling curve. It pays in simple interest. Nice up front, but it hurts your leveling in the long run.

Spending RP on Chop Shop/Weapon Depot/Stamina/Energy actually improves your ratio in regards to the leveling curve which lets you level more often which results in more skill points in the long term that can be further invested in bolstering whatever you are working on at the time. In other words, it pays in compound interest. Plus if you get a piece of UHEL in the bargain, that is not bad either.

Skill points always trump refills in the long run.

  7. I finished New York today and with not much better to do, I spent some time buying weapons, vehicles & upgrading some properties.

My total hourly income from on my properties page says it's $53,430,250. However under my profile, it says my total New York Income / hour is only $27,506,000.

    This is how it reads.

    Total Income 27,560,000/hour
    Total Upkeep US $0/hour
    Cash Flow 27,506,000/hour

If they're not charging me any upkeep, why am I not making the full $53 million per hour?

  8. Oh, and I failed high school algebra. I just went back to college two years ago & finally passed remedial math before I went on to college algebra. Geesh

  9. Skill points always trump refills in the long run.

I still don't get it. Could someone please explain why is this a better option? You spend 14 RP to gain 4 skill points, versus spending 10 RP on energy - not only do you get to level up to gain 5 skill points, you might also receive an additional point for completing a job for example.

  10. Refills should only be used if needed to finish limited time jobs. Otherwise, use them on permanent stat raising.

Each time you level up, you need something like 13.125 XP more than you did the previous level in order to level again. You can get 5 energy points for leveling up. In order to meet this demand, you would need a job which paid 2.625 energy per xp point to level continously.

Even doing settle a beef (2.11) and with wheelman / mastermind bonuses, you do not come close to 2.625 XP per energy point. Eventually, just by spamming settle a beef over and over again, you will not be able to continuously level.

Now, if you were to get 6 skill points per level instead of 5, you would only need 2.18 XP per energy point (assuming my 13.125 xp per level figure is correct; it's somewhere around there anyway) to level up.

This ratio would allow you to continously level up. As a result, in a pure energy build, each bonus skill point of energy (energy that you didn't have to level to get) is worth approximately 1 level up.

By getting skill points WITHOUT leveling up, there's 4 extra energy points floating around... you can level up in the long run 3 times instead of just once with the energy refill.

  12. four times* not three times, I meant 3 more times!

  13. Touche` *Wants his 1000 RP he spent on energy refills back*
    I understand now.

But one thing I did notice. If the 14 RP you spend doesn't get you to a level up and you need to wait overnight for example to level up to get those 5 skill points back then does that put you behind?
Considering that with a full energy bar from levelling up (due to the 10RP) purchase you can get pretty close to the next level as well?

  14. With the changes made to the experience for Robbery, is it worthwhile to put points into fighting/robbing related skills? I had gradually been putting more points into attack, stamina, and some defense since the revamped robbing came out. Robbing helped me reduce the exp/energy ratio needed to level up. Now it doesn't. How should I compensate?

  16. Anon 4:49 - Every time u level up, u get skill points, but the anmount of Exp needed to level goes up along w/the level.

That means that if u needed 100 exp to go from 1-2, than to go from 2-3 will require 110, for example.

So, every energy refill gives u more jobs to do (fun, loot, etc.) and probably 1 level. so, 5 skill points and a jump in how many more exp are needed.

However, buy 4 skill points, and u have adjusted your ratio of energy or stamina:exp that U will need to finish.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Every time you level up it requires alternately 14 or 11 more experience than the previous level to level again. This means you need 2.5 xp/energy or stamina to level continuously

    ReplyDelete
  18. Anon at 7:03pm - you are correct. You need an additional 12.5 points per level to level up.

Generally speaking, the 5 stat points don't cover the gap.

The big outcry over the Top Mafia change is that many, many players have developed high level characters designed around the fact that the 2.11 XP/Energy job exists. If that suddenly dipped below 2.0, my 983 level mogul would basically become unplayable.

Been thinking about switching to World at War, anyway.

  19. Thanks so much for clarifying the point earlier about energy refills. I've always wondered about the reason but not many could give a proper explanation for it; players hear it from someone else and follow without understanding why ;) Thanks once again!

Are there any 7-11 codes floating around? I am not from USA so cannot buy slurpees for the codes :(

  25. Not sure how long this has been out but might be an easy way to pick up 50 skill points if your in the US.

  28. Yes, I just received my first British Passport. There's a screen informing you that you received your 1st passport, so you'll notice.

How long before the mission did the Paris Map start dropping ? 1 or 2 weeks ?

    ReplyDelete
  29. London location is up. Says London starts in about 5 days. Looks like you might need to add mafia to access London and possibly to get access to secondary features or more passports or something. It wasn't very clear, although it was obvious Zynga is trying to get it's players to spam their non playing friends.

    ReplyDelete
  30. London is now Active. Job 1 unlocks in 5 days and ~23 hours

    ReplyDelete
  31. To add people, as MWSG suggested for Paris, just go to the page of Mafia War, there's only a hundred people begging to be added as friend to play Mafia War. Choose 1 or 2 for now. You'll need 2 every chapter to get a 'Special One Time Bonus' of map (12 now, 2x 30 on 1st, 2x 40 on 2nd and 2x 50 on 3rd)
Seems to me that London will cost a lot more than Paris (mirroring real life ?) And there seems to have 4 jobs by chapter. The loot is available to see, but the names don't seems to show up...

  32. Anyone knows whether buying hired guns also give additional British passports bonus?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Wow I can't believe all the bad advice given here about energy refills. For a high energy account the energy refill is ALWAYS better than wasting RP on skill point upgrades or buying weapons or cars earlier.
For a high stamina account, buying stamina refills is ALWAYS better!

    A level 800, 3000 energy, 1000 att, 1000 def account ALWAYS beats a level 400, 500 energy, 900 att, 900 def account!!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I got the Swiss Banker link from the Paypal page, so I thought I'd post it here and save everyone else the trouble of going to the actual Paypal page and doing all that "Like" stuff.

As for the advice about skill points and energy refills, it all comes down to the individual. Different players have different strategies and ideas on how a game works best for them; some are serial levellers and are interested in getting as high as possible in the shortest time while others are interested in the fighting aspect of the game. The only reason I asked about buying skill points was because everyone else kept saying the same thing but no one could give a proper reason why. Their ideas make some sense now, and it'll definitely come in handy for those who wish to level constantly. For myself, I'm in the level 800s now and have stopped adding to energy. My focus is on fights now - I only add to stamina, attack and defense. Once awhile when I get the chance, I'll buy an energy refill to get moving, or else it'll take more than a day to level up. Again, it all comes down to individual preference and there's no right or wrong advice; we can share our different ideas as we go and maybe it'll help someone along the way.

  35. Which is the level when mastermind and wheelman raise from +11% to +12%?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Do you have to be above a certain level in order to participate in London? There's absolutely no mention of it on my MW application.
ps. I'm a very low level in NY

    ReplyDelete
  37. im 1008 lvl, got only the 2 new episodes to do in bangkok and im at level 3 mastery of the first new episode, and they changed robbing, and still with 2300 stamina its pretty boring to do the robbing, the game also found a limit to etertainement i think, so im retiring from mafia wars..
hope the game will remain original and funny and good to spend hour. but you all know..its still a game and a free game i might add. so dont take it too seriously!
    have fun!

  40. For the Memorial Day Sale, they mention that "Treasure Chest Keys do not qualify". Even though PURCHASING them doesn't qualify, it seems that when you OPEN Gold Treasure Chests (didn't try regular ones), you still get the Memorial Day Sale Bonus!

For some reason the hourly sale had them at 4RP instead of the usual 5RP special, so I purchased a bunch, you get a free key as your first Memorial Day Special reward too, got a 20RP from one of them, so in total I was down 10RP for my 9 purchases, got the WWII M4 Shermann and a bunch of other stuff from the Chests!

  41. @Everyone, don't forget the Reef Shark A55/D24 from playign 3 levels of Treasure Isle.

@Anynomous (11% to 12%), there is no way to got over that limit. Check the MafiaWars Wiki for specifics on what levels give what %. See http://mafiawars.wikia.com/wiki/Top_Mafia

    @Guillaume
You can add the people to your list right away; they'll be "locked" but you won't need to look for more later on. I find looking for people rather annoying, so I like to do it in batch...

  44. Just a quick question .... What would make my skills go from 894 att /854 def. to lessen down to 832 att / 833 def ?? I dont get why the dropped , I 've been dumping my points into them when I can . ThanX - Juggernaut

    ReplyDelete
  45. About the Att and Def drop, this happened to me also but to my overall att and def. It's something that will correct itself. It could take up a couple weeks though. My def went from 63,000 to about 45,000. Lasted that way for 2 or 3 weeks. You can try to uninstall MW and reinstall, but more than likely it won't work. Just keep playing.
