Episode 6 Yakuza or Triads; Bangkok Strategy

The age-old question resurfaces: Who to pick, Yakuza or Triads? Here is the breakdown of Episode 6 of the newly released Mafia Wars Bangkok chapters!

Chapter 2

The Yakuza Tier

The Yakuza-only "Steal an Experimental Armor Prototype" drops the Yakuza-only Titanium Mesh Jacket (armor; 31 attack, 46 defense). This is a slight upgrade (+1 armor) over the Executive Overcoat).

The Titanium Mesh Jacket is Yakuza-only.

The Triad Tier

The Triad-only "Extort the Consortium's Remaining Officers" drops the Triad-only Raed Armored Sedan (vehicle; 30 attack, 47 defense). I want my Pirates from farming Lloyds Spectres back!

The Raed Armored Sedan is Triad-only

Conclusion

Both tiers contain upgrades over previous tiers. I am going with Triad since the Raed Armored Sedan is a bigger upgrade (+2 defense over Lloyds Spectre) than the Titanium Mesh Jacket (+1 defense over the Executive Overcoat).

Chapter 3

The Yakuza Tier

The Yakuza-only "Acquire Information On A Government Supporter" job drops the Yakuza-only Ninja (armor; 47 attack, 35 defense). This is a 2 attack upgrade over the Shturmovik (45 attack).

The Ninja is Yakuza-only.

The Triad Tier

The Triad-only "Bribe a Royal Thai Army Colonel" job drops the Triad-only Nak Kha Shotgun (weapon; 47 attack, 31 defense). Nice upgrade over the Ubijca Assault Rifle / Tanto (+4 defense; both of these items have 43 attack).

The Nak Kha Shotgun is Triad-only.

Conclusion

Once again, both choices contain upgrades over the previous tiers. Triad is a bigger upgrade however and I already have a good chunk of better armor pieces than the Ninja (Yakuza Assassin) from the faction store, so I am thinking the Nak Kha Shotgun is a better option.

It's possible that Episode 7 has better loot in one of these categories, but is highly unlikely. Given this split, I'm expecting we'll see the 2 best-in-slot animals in Episode 7, along with a new best-in-slot offensive vehicle and defensive weapon.

Will post up Episode 7 tonight; time for work! Enjoy the updates!

  5. So when I did "Kidnap a leader" it spent phones and it supposedly wasn't supposed to, and then I didn't have to spend any phone when "Extorting an Officer".

    WEEEEIRD

  10. chapter 7 doesn't factions at all (there's a job that consolidates the power in thailand) so you can start plugging away at that right away. there's a snake called chain viper that has 46 attack, 33 defense. titanium katar (weapon) 35A, 50D, lamang motorcycle 49A, 34D

    ReplyDelete
  11. chapter 7 also has the royal thai marine, armor, 33atk 49def

  12. What happened to the gloves that were replaced by that shotgun?

  13. I'm I the only one who is not that excited about the new loot. It took ages to acquire 501 of the best cuba loot and it was a real pain to replace it with the better Moscow loot! To be honest, I was relieved when Bangkok first came out and all my stuff wasn't superseded.

But now it is superseded but I'm not sure its worth the effort to max out on all the new stuff what with LA a few months away! Also, having the best of every doesn't seem to matter any more because people don't fight much. I use to get exp when attacked or when I fight with as a capo but people spend their stamina on robbing nowadays. Having the best of everything doesn't seem to make much difference in robbing because of the randomness.

  14. What are the mastery items?

  15. i know that its a very newbie question but how do one trade.
as far i figured out is that we(two persons trading)add themselves in each others mafia and send out gifts. but it is a very long process . is it the only way?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Gifting's the only way, sorry.

Does anyone think it's in rather bad taste that they have this political upheaval thing in MW at the same time as the real-time protests?

  17. @ two posts above:

You can use chucker. It's an applet to send items automatically. You can conduct large trades easily that way.

    You can get it here:

  21. wow, this new content will actually take some time, i have 11million baht saved up, but just spent 2 million on items for assasin tier 2. i am guessing they will require the same amount of items as all the other episodes before.

  22. I'm just going to wait for them to nerf it. It takes too much money to get anywhere in 6 or 7. You've got little hope of getting through it any time soon, unless you're a committed energy player, and there are a lot of dedicated fighter players just starting Bangkok.

And I'm not eager to get through that lame "Shadow King" level too. What is this, an Indiana Jones movie?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Stamina players can make a lot more money than energy players through fighting. If someone had simply held on to all of the Bhat they had gathered since Bangkok was announced.

A fighter player would be getting 10,000 Bhat per one stamina spent on targets who have unbanked money. (10,000 to one payoff per skill point)

An energy player would be 14,000 Bhat for 299 energy or aprox 6,000 Bhat for 128 energy in episode 5A or 5B. (A 46 Bhat to one payoff per skill point.)

Moneywise, it is much easier to be a fight list player in Bangkok.

I am a hybrid attack/stamina/energy player. You will be seeing more of us soon. I have infinite leveling by my energy and the 3x ratio robbing in New York, but I can also generate mass amounts of Bhat via fighting in Bangkok.

I have crap defense and health, but who cares? Those are useless stats that only serve to cater to people's vanity or accomplish a handful of achievements that only give a couple of skill points and fulfill OCD people's desire to "get all of the accomplishments."

    Good luck with that.

  24. titanium mesh armor is useless to collect since assasin first item is much better 33-49 armor royalo thaim marine

    ReplyDelete
  25. Got Hyro Glove (23 Attack, 53 Defense) for choosing Triad in Chapter 3.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Ehm I'm an energy player and I have already maxed some episodes in bangkok including 5A & B and I can make infinite money by leveling up infinitely on Attack Wei's Gambling Halls Level 4 Mastered B$9,365 Experience: +377 Cost: 192 Energy... can stamina acc get more baht in one minute than me? or in one hour?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Almost no one of the Fight list has money sitting out waiting to be taken. And if they do, they are iced almost immediately. So the argument that you are making $10 Baht per stamina point is BS.

    ReplyDelete
  28. i have currently 150 million baht in the bank due to fighting. i receive B$65,000 per stamina point and get 3 to 4 exp points. that 3.0 ratio per stamina point spent and if you use attack X... Let me tell you it'll be worth it. with 5000+ stamina points it really pays off :)

    ReplyDelete
  29. lol do u have life?

    ReplyDelete
  30. bullshit. people dont get that kinda money from fighting. end of story. the cap is still 10k per fight.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Pictures or it didn't happen...

    ReplyDelete
  32. BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  33. I know my question is well off the topic here but does anyone have an idea, why some of my MW players have lost their MW accounts and have to start over again. The level remains the same but they have to start the cities all over again. This has happened to about 5 of my crew over the last couple of weeks

    ReplyDelete
  34. after mastering chapter 6 once can u go back and play it as a different faction to get the other loot??

    ReplyDelete
  35. I don't understand some of your conclusions. I have many more Railgun than Yakuza Assassin and can always trade for more.

I'm picking Ninja over NKS personally.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Hi guys.. everyone mentions unlimited levelling from having a large energy pool - I started playing mafia wars long before I found any guides like this so my account is pretty much an all-rounder.

I'm level 348 with 685 attack but only 1228 energy, how much energy SHOULD I have to be able to continuously level? At the moment I can only level 2-3 times a day!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I'm playing on two accounts and just discovered a MAJOR difference between Yakuza and Triad for Chapter 2. The Triad job "Extort The Consortium's Remaining Officers" says it uses a satellite phone but it has NOT been using them! Is this just me or has anyone else found this too?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Add me "Helsio Perestrelo" lvl 1000+
    thanks for the tips

    ReplyDelete
  39. finally i now have 10001 Ninjas and 10000 mesh jackets !!!! i have 26,854 energy

    ReplyDelete
  40. I've confirmed on both accounts that the ep 6 ch 2 Triad job does NOT consume a satellite phone. You must have at least one but you can do the job without using any from your inventory.
